Why iChair ?

The iChair idea came from our desire to improve the senior’s travelling experience. We consequently came to the idea of an autonomous wheelchair which goal is to take charge of old people from their arrival at the airport until they board on the plane.

So we based the functioning of our app on the Uber-like system: we wanted iChair to be an easy-to-use platform on which one could order a wheelchair cab that would drive him from the entrance to the boarding gate, passing by the check-in desk and the customs, and all this only by indicating the destination and the flight number corresponding. You just have to enter the app, choose between an iChair or an iChair + -which is an improved version of the iChair as it goes faster and allows better comfort to its passenger-, enter your destination and flight number, and it’s all done! Your wheelchair will come pick you up in a small amount of time -indicated on your app- and drive you automatically.

Travel in all safety: Our wheelchairs have been conceived in the mark of a state-of-the-art technology, using artificial intelligence developed for autonomous cars, and then tested for a three-year period, during which they were constantly improved. Therefore we can now guarantee your safety while travelling in iChair.

Avoid the queue lines: With iChair, you don’t have to wait standing for hours in the queue line of the check-in desk. iChair will get you to priority lines during all your stay at the airport.

A single price: We predefined two prices for each airport in which iChairs are available - one for the iChair option and one for the iChair + option. These prices are calculated according to the size and accessibility of each airport. This therefore makes it easier for the travellers.

An easy-to-use app: Our goal was to create an app accessible to everyone, especially the elderly. It is thus a really simple app.

So how could this have happened?

First of all, we used a mapping tool MindMeister which allowed us, starting from the problem, to subdivide it into sub-problems in order to reach at a clearer idea of the subject. Below, the different MindMeisters that have been made:

And then we have realized a Wireframe which represents the schema used when designing the user interface to define the zones and components it should contain.

From the Wireframe, the Mockup which presents the prototype user interface.

At last , we have performed tests to improve the user experience of our application. The aim was to collect from the people (first the seniors and then the young people who travel with seniors frequently) targets, their impressions during their first experiences.

WITH ICHAIR, LIFE FOR SENIORS BECOMES EASIER
